Baltimore & Ohio #633

General Motors Electro-Motive Division
SW-900
Switcher

History

EMD SW-900 was a locomotive designed for switching in yards and for branch line routes. This locomotive was built in 1954 to be used to switch in railyards. It was delivered to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad in 1955 but was renumbered to 9408 in 1957. The #9408 was used to switch rail cars in Pennsylvania for many years and then was leased to the Koppers Chemical Company in West Virginia from 1975 to 1991 and then was returned to CSX Transportation. It is primarily a static display as #633 in the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum parking lot. However, it is used to switch out railcars and other locomotives throughout the property today.
