History
Built in 1926 by the Pullman Company in Illinois for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. They numbered this railcar 5213 and painted it green at the time. Throughout time, however, upgrades would be made. Seats would recline, air conditioning would be installed, a streamliner theme would be added, the new Baltimore & Ohio blue & grey paint scheme would be added to match the diesel electric locomotives that were being used for passenger train service, and they would be renumbered to 3528. It would primarily run on the Royal Blue Express, which would serve between New York and Washington, DC. It would also be pulled with other light rail equipment, as well as six other axle coaches on the last passenger trains operated by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. In 1983, the final use of 3528 was on Chessie System's Safety Express to promote Operation Lifesaver. Operation Lifesaver reminds the public about the hazards of railroad property. Finally, 3528 was donated to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum, where it is on display in the parking lot today.
