History
Built in 1926 by the Pullman Company in Illinois, starting as Sleeper 7460 for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. It had twelve bedrooms and a drawing room. The nickname was “Thendara” from 1948 to 1954. In 1956, this sleeper was converted into a parlor coach with sixty-two seats and renumbered to 4723 until it was no longer used on passenger train routes, which ended in 1965. This would be used on maintenance-of-way trains as a camp car for the crew that would repair the tracks. Once again, this railcar was renumbered X-4056 and painted red to match the rest of the maintenance of way fleet. This car would be used to house the maintenance of way crew and serve as their office as well. In 1988, it was used in Pennsylvania for office space storage, dining for the crews. In 1996, it was sent to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum, where it is now displayed in the parking lot and renumbered to X4055.
