History

Built in 1950 for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad with the thought that rail transportation would increase after WWII. However, that was not the case; instead, it was used on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. It was nicknamed the Tygart after the Tygart River. It was used on the Capital and National Limited trains as a first-class sleeping car. It was used until 1971, the same year Amtrak took over passenger service throughout the United States. Today, the Tygart is on display in the parking lot at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum.
