Description

Chesapeake & Ohio Baggage 314

Pullman
Heavy weight
Standard Gauge

History

Built in 1929 by the Pullman Car Company in Pennsylvania for the Chesapeake and Ohio. It was used on passenger trains carrying luggage and mail behind the locomotive and in front of the rest of the passenger equipment. Unfortunately, in March 1969, a Presidential Funeral Train rolled out of Washington, DC, for Kansas to bury former President Dwight D. Eisenhower with a ten-car consist. This would be how soldiers who died would get back home. Today, this baggage car is on display at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum in the parking lot.
