History

Built in 1905 by Lima Locomotive Works in Ohio for the G.W. Huntly Lumber Company in West Virginia. It was designed for hauling lumber through sharp curves and uneven track. In 1915, the Greenbrier Cheat & Elk Company acquired this locomotive, which it would use for the West Virginia Pulp & Paper Company until 1942, when it was transferred to the Mower Lumber Company, receiving a red and green paint scheme. In 1960, #1 would move from scrap yard to scrap yard until 1962, when it was sold to the state of West Virginia to operate on the Cass Scenic Railroad. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum acquired this locomotive in 1981, and it is currently on display in the roundhouse.
