Denver & Salt Lake Caboose 10061

Built in 1906 for the Denver Northwestern Pacific Railway, numbered 10005 out of wood. The name changed from the Denver Northwestern Pacific Railway to the Denver & Salt Lake Railway in 1911. This caboose got renumbered to 10061. In 1935, this caboose was involved in a train wreck, which took out the wood, which was replaced with steel the same year. It was purchased by the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad in 1947. Not only was it repainted, but it was also renumbered to 01392 the next year. After serving on the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad, it was sold off and used to be a weed sprayer and was renumbered 105 until the Rio Grande Railway leased it, then bought it during the 60s and renumbered it to 301. It finally retired in 1977 and was in a scrap yard for years until it was purchased in 1979 by the Adams in Estrella. It was then purchased by Steve Seward, who lived in Ignacio in 2009, until it finally went to the Moffat Road Railroad Museum in 2021 to be restored.
