Built in 1905 by Baldwin Locomotive Works in Pennsylvania for the Atlantic Coast Line, which was the first railroad to serve Ft Myers. In 1944, the Atlantic Coast Line sold #143 to the AGRICO Chemical Company to haul products from the mines to the processing plant as well as interchange railcars with the main line carriers at the time, such as the Atlantic Coast Line and the Seaboard Air Line Railroads, until it was retired in 1959. It was then just displayed at the AGRICO Chemical Headquarters in Pierce. From there, it was moved to storage in Webster and onto Tampa. It deteriorated due to the environment of the cement plant it was stored at, so it needed to be relocated. The Railroad Museum of South Florida took it and restored #143 between 1991 and 2001.
