Oahu Railway & Land #6
Baldwin
0-4-2 wheel configuration
Saddle tank
Built in 1889 by Baldwin Locomotive Works in Pennsylvania and went to work for the Moiliili Quarry which was owned by the Kingdom of Hawaii's Public Works. However, it was not compatible for the tracks in the quarry, so it was put on sale. During these times, a man by the name of Benjamon Dillingham was building a railroad and made a bet with his friends that he would be able to give them a ride on the newly built Oahu Railway & Land Railroad by the time his birthday came around. However, two of the locomotives he purchased would arrive too late so he immediately purchased #6 named Kauila to win his bet. Kauila operated for the Oahu Railway & Land until retirement in 1933. It was put on static display at the roundhouse in the Honolulu area. Now it's on static display at the Hawaiian Railway Society in Ewa Beach
