District of Columbia Car 1101

History

Built in 1973 by the St. Louis Car Company in Missouri for the District of Columbia Transit System. The Presidents' Conference Committee streetcars. With diesel buses replacing streetcars, Car 1011 wore “DC Transit/ Last Day/ of Streetcars” on the dash above the windshield. In 1970, this car was donated to the National Capital Trolley Museum by President of the District of Columbia Transit System of the time, O. Roy Chalk. Today, it operates on the property during its hours.
