Built in 1951 by Fairbanks Morse Company for Weyerhaeuser Timber Company. The majority of railroads were slowly replacing their steam locomotives with diesel- electric locomotives. This locomotive was hauling lumber between the White River Mill and Enumclaw, where this company connected with the Northern Pacific Railway, along with the Milwaukee Road, until a new locomotive replaced #1 in 1975. It moved to Vail and was renumbered to 714. When a mechanical issue arose, Weyerhaeuser Timber Company sold this locomotive to Pacific Transportation Services, switching grain elevators in Tacoma. In 1987, this locomotive was sold to the Northwest Railway Museum. They put the Weyerhaeuser Timber Company paint scheme back on it and renumbered it back to 1. It is in the train shed as of today.
