Northern Pacific Caboose 1743

Built in 1921 for the Northern Pacific Railway and numbered 1743, as you can see in the photo. In 1972, the Burlington Northern Railway acquired the Northern Pacific Railway and renumbered this caboose to Burlington Northern 10955. In the late 1970's, the railroad stored this caboose in Bellingham until it retired in the mid 1990's. Former owners who were a married couple had the caboose until they decided to move it to the Iron Horse Inn Bed and Breakfast, where it is used for guests to stay the night as of today. The owners repainted it back to the appropriate paint scheme for Northern Pacific Railway cabooses and renumbered it back to Northern Pacific Caboose 1743.
